Did you know? – Her Majesty’s painting in the Great Hall

An important though lesser known work, commissioned by the Society in 2005 to mark her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee. Painted by Anthony Oakshett (b1955) during four sittings in Buckingham Palace’s Yellow Room, overlooking St James’ Park, and unveiled on 21st March of that year by HRH the Duke of Kent. The artist has added the Apothecaries Rose to the Chinese wallpaper. Her Majesty wears the Garter Sash and Star, complemented by jewellery from the Dubai suite, composed of a necklace of sapphires set alternately with diamonds, completed by matching earrings and bracelet.
