The Master Apothecary, Professor Michael Farthing, is delighted to announce that the Galen Awards ceremony will take place by the medium of Zoom, on Tuesday 25th May.

The Society is unique in combining the responsibilities of a City of London Livery Company with a UK medical academic institution.  The Galen Awards mark our annual celebration of medical science and education.

Speakers will include the winner of the Galen Medal in Therapeutics, the Society of Apothecaries’ most prestigious award. The citation for this will be delivered by the Dr Tony Fauci, M.D., NIAID Director; the Farr Medal winner, presented for their significant contribution to the management of the care of elderly people; the Apothecaries’ Prize winner, for junior doctors at pre-consultant level, which was introduced in 2017 to mark the 400th anniversary of the granting of the Society’s Royal Charter; and the Surgeon General’s Prize winner, for Military Medicine in a conflict or catastrophe medicine setting.

Tickets are free and may be booked in the usual way through the Members’ Area of the website. Numbers are limited to 100, so booking in advance is essential.  An option to donate to the Master’s Fund will be available – the Apothecaries’ Silver event raised over £600 through these donations.

Those attending should access the Zoom meeting via the link provided on the Pour Memoire from 6.20 pm, as the seminar will begin at 6.30 pm precisely.
