Maternal Health in Humanitarian Settings Lecture & Panel Discussion: To be given by Dr Brigid Hayden FRCOG & Dr Benjamin Black

Speakers with first-hand experience in providing care to pregnant women and newborns in the context of conflict and catastrophe environments will provide insight and knowledge regarding the challenges faced. The subject matter will touch on the care of women and babies, particularly during the Ebola pandemic, as well as in Haiti and Sudan.

Dr Hayden is an experienced Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and active Trustee of the international medical charity, Maternal & Child Health Advocacy International (MCAI). The Charity focuses on saving the lives of mothers and babies in disadvantaged settings, which entails strong multidisciplinary engagement.

‘Dr Hayden has worked on maternal, neo-natal and child health care projects in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Cameroon, Gambia and Liberia’. She has also recently engaged in a collaborative multidisciplinary maternal & neonatal project in Ukraine.
