Master’s Fund Charity Dinner with the Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra
The Master, Dr David Jefferys and the Charity Committee Chair, Dr Stephen Linton invite all members of the Society, both Faculties and Friends to join them for an evening of music, sumptuous food and excellent wines in the candlelight of our stunning Great Hall.
The evening will begin with a Champagne Reception in our beautiful courtyard (weather permitting), after which you will be invited to bring your glass of champagne up to the Hall where a 26-piece orchestra will await you.
The musicians, from the Bromley Youth Chamber Orchestra (BYCO) will entertain you. Formed in 1977, BYCO consists of talented young string players from Bromley Youth Music Trust (BYMT), the nationally renowned local music service and consortium member of the South East London Music Hub. The system at BYMT starts with elementary string players and progresses through 5 levels of string orchestra up to the chamber orchestra, and some of these performers will have started their journey with BYMT at 4 years old. Many of the young musicians will later study at music conservatoires in the UK and Europe.
BYCO has recently toured the Loire Valley in France, Prague in the Czech Republic and this year, looking forward to performing in Italy at a range of venues in Verona and Lake Garda.
The musicians are very much looking forward to performing and have said they are honoured to be part of this event!
After the musical performance, a two-course dinner with wine will be served. You will be treated to two short recitals by an actor, one from Samuel Pepys diary, concerning the Great Fire of London in 1666 (360 years ago this year), and another on King George’s observations on the loss of the American colonies (you may have noted that the next day is the 4th July, American Independence day!). There will be an opportunity to hear from a past beneficiary of our charity grants. And as a bit of fun there will be an opportunity to display your knowledge about the City of London with a quiz based game of Heads and Tails.
All this will be in aid of our very own Charity, also known as the Master’s Fund. We hope you will show your support and consider booking in for what promises to be an enjoyable and unique evening. If you are not able to attend, we hope you will consider making a donation to the Master’s Fund, there a number of ways to do so:
