In a change to the usual annual programme, one of the two Guest Dinners this year has been moved to the autumn, to give a better spread of functions through the year.

The Society holds two main types of dinners: Livery Dinners, where the dress code is white tie, that traditionally were for Liverymen and a limited number of guests only; and Guest Dinners, where the dress code is black tie, to which Members were encouraged to bring guests.

Nowadays, both types of dinner follow the same pattern, and Apothecaries can usually bring as many guests as they please. Despite this, Guest Dinners still maintain a more relaxed atmosphere.

To start the evening, guests and their hosts will be welcomed by the Master and Wardens and mingle with other guests for pre-dinner drinks. Champagne is served, together with non-alcoholic alternatives.
