1st Livery Dinner 2020

An excellent turnout of Apothecaries and their guests enjoyed a super evening, dining on chargrilled bonito, tunnel boned quail and baked Russian cheesecake, washed down with an excellent Burgundy, delicious Margaux, and finished with a 1994 Croft. Junior Warden Dr Jonathan Holliday CVO introduced and welcomed the guests, who included the Prime Wardens of the Goldsmiths and Blacksmiths, and the Master Turner, all accompanied by their Clerks. Dr Holliday’s guest, the Revd Dr Hueston Finlay of St George’s Chapel, Windsor, replied on behalf of the guests, with a most illuminating comparison of the short plays of Bulgakov (The Master and Magarita)and Chekov (The Cherry Orchard). Musicians from the Guildhall School and Music and Drama entertained with opera and excerpts from Broadway, and the Master completed proceedings with the Master’s Toast, after which guests joined him for a stirrup cup in the Court Room.
